Missions Start Here
Confession: I drove right past a dude the other day that I knew I was supposed to pull over and help. I knew it…
He was walking w/ a back-pack and carrying a sign that said “Ingles” on it. Meaning, he needed a ride to Ingles. You want to know how far Ingles is from my house? 4 miles.
4 MILES that was on my way to where I was going.
You want to know why I didn’t pull over and give the guy a ride?
I was running late.
How selfish can I be? Who do I think that I am that I can blatantly hear God pressing it upon my heart to pull over and give this guy a ride and not do it because “I’m too busy.”
I continually pray that I would receive opportunities to be Jesus and I get a very easy one and don’t take it. Wow.
I heard a guy say once that I had no business telling people about Jesus in other countries if I wasn’t willing to be Jesus where I live my life.
That pretty much smacked me across the face when I drove right past this guy.
I have no business going back to Haiti or traveling to Africa or preaching in Trinidad if I don’t have the guts to invite someone to church in Wal-Mart, pay for someone’s meal in the drive-thru or drive a guy to Ingles right here where I live my life.
Your mission field is the people and places that are right in front of you. Wal-Mart parking lot. The line at your super-market. Your office. The kid that mows your lawn. Your subdivision. The convenience store down the street from your house. The “bad part of town.”
Be faithful with the mission field that is in your back yard FIRST.
Once you are faithful being Jesus where you are, watch where He takes you.
